Love Can Be A Crime

Love Can Be A Crime © 2016 Jeff Zuber
I could open up and let you in
But you might hurt me just the same
I’ve got to decide if I want to take that chance
But I don’t know if I could stand the pain
Love can be a blessing
Love can be a crime
I’m so afraid of guessing what
You will do with mine
And I don’t want to be hurt this time
You say you want to have and hold me
But I’ve heard that line once or twice before
And I guess what really frightens me is what you will say
When you walk right out my door
Don’t you get me wrong I need loving too
But I want you know I need the kind that lasts
So if I open up my heart to you
Please take your time
Don’t you come and go too fast
Love can be a blessing
Love can be a crime
I’m so afraid of guessing what
You will do with mine
And I don’t want to be hurt this time
No I don’t want to be hurt this time
No I won’t let you hurt me this time

Tomorrow When I Am Gone

Tomorrow When I Am Gone © 2016 Jeff Zuber
Well I thought that I was ready
To take the time to settle down
To buy a nice white house with a picket fence
In a quiet part of town
But there’s something deep inside me
Makes me question these things I do
Something inside me askin’
Is this fair to me or you
Don’t you misunderstand my meaning
It’s not that I don’t care for you
It’s just that all my love
Those are pretty big words
And I don’t know if I can make them true
And I hate like hell to hurt you
But this would cause you more pain later on
So baby please remember just our good times
Tomorrow when I am gone
Well I take a look around me
And my life it’s not so bad
But I find that I’m still wishin’
For that freedom that I had
And there is no other woman
Weighin’ heavy upon my mind
It’s just that I love chasing rainbows
Never knowing what I’ll find
Well now dry your eyes you know I hate to see you cry
It’s harder if you fuss and carry on
You’re young you’re pretty with your whole life ahead
And I know you’ll get along
And I hate like hell to hurt you
But this would cause you more pain later on
So baby please remember just our good times
Tomorrow when I am gone
And I hate like hell to hurt you
But this would cause you more pain later on
So baby please remember just our good times
Tomorrow when I am gone

Hell To Be Alone

Hell To Be Alone © 2016 Jeff Zuber
He’s a man that’s got some money
And he makes you feel important honey
But don’t you know that he’s lovin’ you on the sly
He’ll meet you at some cheap hotel
And you’ll still be by yourself
When he gets up to say goodbye
Tell me that you’re feelin’ good
Tell me that you wish you could
Tell me that it’s hell to be alone
Tell me that it’s hell to be alone
You can talk about the life you’ll have together
But it’s talk about forever that always leaves him cold
You can dream about your love that’s endin’ never
That’s not a good dream growin’ better
It’s just a sad dream growin’ old
You look into those lovin’ eyes
And listen to his tender lies
And you know that you wish that they were true
You know you don’t play kiss and tell
That’s why this romance works so well
But when it’s over honey where does that leave you
You can talk about the life you’ll have together
But it’s talk about forever that always leaves him cold
You can dream about your love that’s endin’ never
That’s not a good dream growin’ better
It’s just a sad dream growin’ old
Tell me that you’re feelin’ good
Tell me that you wish you could
Tell me that it’s hell to be alone
Tell me that it’s hell to be alone

Just Beyond My Reach

Just Beyond My Reach © 2016 Jeff Zuber
On a rainy night in Georgia
Somewhere among my years
Like the hot dark sky above us
She was pouring out her tears
And she seemed so very lonely
But she was not alone
And I held her for a moment
And in a moment she was gone
She’s just beyond my reach
Oh but I have touched her
Yeah she’s just beyond my reach
And yet she’s always there
She’s just beyond my reach
When I really need her
And I can breathe her
In my air
All the things I never told her
Things my heart alone could say
And how I’ve wished that I could hold her
And how I watched her slip away
And I know she fears the darkness
So I hope she finds her light
And the part of her still with me
Comforts me tonight
And she’s just beyond my reach
Ah but I have touched her
She’s just beyond my reach
And yet she’s always there
She’s just beyond my reach
When I really need her
And I can breathe her
In my air

Show Me

Show Me ©2016 Jeff Zuber
We’ve been here for so many years
So many words, so many tears
Sometimes I think I’ve heard them all
I long to be close to you,
But I don’t know what more to do
And I’m so ready to take love’s fall
Where’s the truth in I love you?
Where’s my lover and my friend?
If it don’t lead us to touchin’, it don’t count for much then
Show me
Leave your pride behind, take my side and show me
Don’t talk to me, don’t cry for me, just come to me and make love to me,
The only way you’ll know me, the only way you’ll hold me,
Is to show me
Maybe we can still be together,
But words are cheap and can’t buy forever
And I’m so ready to take love’s fall
We’ve been here for so many years
So many words, so many tears
Sometimes I’m sure I’ve cried them all
Where’s the truth in I love you?
Where’s my lover and my friend?
If it don’t lead us to touchin’, then it don’t count for much then
Show me
Leave your pride behind, take my side and show me
Don’t talk to me, don’t cry for me, just come to me and make love to me,
The only way you’ll know me, the only way you’ll hold me,
Is to...
Show me
Leave your pride behind, take my side and show me
Don’t talk to me, don’t cry for me, just come to me and make love to me,
The only way you’ll know me, the only way you’ll hold me,
Is to show me
It's time to show me
Baby you’ve got to show me

Didn't Kiss Me Back

Didn’t Kiss Me Back © 2016 Jeff Zuber
There was a time I needed you and I know you needed me
I could see the caring in your soulful eyes and they would not set me free
And your kiss would bring my heart to life you could make me feel complete
And when I held you you would tremble as you listened to it beat
I’ve been thrown in raging waters
I’ve been cast upon the rocks
I miss our time together and how you touched me when we talked
I knew that we were ended was a cold and painful fact
When the last time that I kissed you girl
You didn’t kiss me back
Passion is a hurtful thing when it has no right to be
But we were both so caught up in it it was all that we could see
And I know you truly loved me
Or else why would you tell me so
Still you killed a little part of me the night you let me go
And I’ve been thrown in raging waters
I’ve been cast upon the rocks
I miss our time together and how you touched me when we talked
And I knew that we were ended was a cold and painful fact
When the last time that I kissed you girl
You didn’t kiss me back
No you didn’t kiss me back
I know you never planned it so I hope this doesn’t sound too cruel
But I don’t think I could stand it if you weren’t hurtin’ too
We’ll pretend there are no feelings as we try to be just friends
But the cruelest joke on both of us is that true love doesn’t end
And we’ve been thrown in raging waters
We’ve been cast upon the rocks
We miss our time together and the touching when we talked
And I knew that we were ended was a cold and painful fact
When the last time that I kissed you girl
You didn't kiss me back

All I’ve Got to Say About That ©2016 Jeff Zuber
It was Saturday night and the bar was ragin’
I was doin’ my best to dance a little Cajun
And a brown eyed girl was tossin’ some tequila back
So I sat down as a matter of fact
She ordered me up a water and Jack
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that
We closed that joint at a quarter to three
She took a little walk with me
And I thought I might get
To tickle her fancy
We backed her truck just out of sight
We thought we was hidden in the dark of the night
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that
Those brown eyed girls with their pretty brown curls
Will lead you down the road to ruin
Long before you know what you’re doing
She slipped off her jeans and called me Hun
We was just about to have some fun
Then oh my lord, that’s when it happened
There was a tap on the window, there stood Johnny Law
Grinnin’ ear to ear from what he just saw
And he said folks, I think your plan has a flaw
You’d best move it on down the trail, or you’ll be spendin’ the night in jail
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that
Yes, that’s all he had to say about that
Those brown eyed girls with their pretty brown curls
Will lead you down the road to ruin
Long before you know what you’re doing
And that’s all I’ve got to say about that
Yes, that’s all he had to say about that
That’s all there is to say about that
That’s all I’ve got to say
